Learning objectives
Course educationl goals.
The course's goal is to provide the student with the skills that will enable him to assess the patients' general wellbeing/health status.
Those skills will be gained by learning a few methodologies, such as:
The nursing assessment, which enables to ricognize and describe the signs and symptoms of an illness.
The observation of patients' needs - basic ones and related ones (bio physiological and psychosocial-cultural ones) - and the data collection, both in a condition of wellbeing and in an altered state of health.

The student is requested to learn and understand the following, through theoretical lessons and interactive practice:
The importance of semiology in nursing.
Semiology in nursing.
The meaning: semiology, symptom, sign.
Body systems (medical) model.
Semiology and the patient's assessment.
Data collection, different types of data and observation (levels of observation).
The Semiology methods/approach or person assessment: inspection, palpation, percussion, auscultation.
