Engineering for Industrial Systems and Technologies
50% engineer, 50% manager. Or rather: 100% engineer and 100% manager. These are the characteristics of the graduates of this degree course, which is dedicated to studying and enhancing the increasingly strong links between technological and economic-organisational variables in the corporate world. The course is divided into three curricula for even more specific training focused on the vocation of the students, and its graduates are among the most sought-after professionals by companies.
The course provides a broad and transversal basic preparation and, thanks to the strong link with the numerous industries in the Parma area, offers excellent employment opportunities in the food, pharmaceutical, logistics, plant engineering, energy and other sectors. Furthermore, it must be emphasised that, in the national context too, the demand for mechanical engineers is extremely high.
The course catalogue is further enhanced by the possibility of study periods abroad and contact with the world of work through curricular internships.
The second-cycle degree course in Advanced Automotive Engineering is an international inter-university course with its administrative hub at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. It is run jointly by the Universities of Bologna, Ferrara and Parma and is supported by the most prestigious companies operating in the automotive sector in the Emilia-Romagna region.
The course’s objective is to provide knowledge and skills in the design of high-performance and competition motor and motorcycles vehicles. The main features of the course are:
- lecturers are chosen amongst university professors and Italian and foreign professional experts, to guarantee the highest quality of teaching; they are selected by an inter-university Coordination Committee, open for participation to the partner companies.
- students are admitted to the degree course following an accurate assessment of their merits and a technical and motivational interview, then are assigned to one of the six curricula that make up the course, based on their ranking and declared interests.
- a joint first semester for all students, held at the "Enzo Ferrari" Department of Engineering of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, aimed at providing basic skills.
- six curricula (max. 25 places each): Advanced Powertrain- Modena (Modena hub) Advanced Powertrain - Bologna (Bologna hub from the second semester) High Performance Car Design (Modena hub), Racing Car Design (Parma hub from the second year), Advanced Motorcycle Engineering (Bologna hub) Advanced Sportscar Manufacturing (Bologna hub).
- the courses are taught entirely in English and include both a theoretical and a laboratory part, held at the universities and at industrial partners’ laboratories, to develop high-level professional skills according to a "Learning by Doing" logic.
- mandatory internships and activities aimed at writing the dissertation in 'Project Working' mode, taking place within the most important firms in the automotive sector and at universities’ research laboratories
The Second Cycle Degree Course in Engineering for the Food Industry has the following specific objectives:
- the creation of a figure with a solid background in the areas of food industry machinery design, food industry plant design and operation, and food industry process management;
- the complementary emphasis on packaging and its sustainability, simulation models to support the design and operation of food industry plants, and on related food-related activities.
The Second-cycle Degree Course in Management Engineering aims to train an engineer capable of tackling the systemic problems that characterise the life of companies. The graduate is culturally prepared on the technical-plant and economic-managerial fronts and is capable of managing innovation in products and services. The skills developed by the graduate in management engineering range from market analysis from an economic and legal perspective, to the management of new product development projects, business strategy, organisational design, production systems management and quality management.
The Second-Cycle Degree Course in Mechanical Engineering aims to produce professionals capable of carrying out a considerable range of tasks, offering a course catalogue designed to ensure a solid basic, scientific, economic and technical-practical preparation. The training path has highly innovative features and is based on a curriculum structured as a series, gradually leading to the attainment of the qualification of Second-Cycle Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
