Learning objectives
The course will provide means suitable for a theoretical approach to film, focusing on its aesthetic and philosophical impact, and allowing students to grasp the forms of dialogue between cinema and the XX century artistic and industrial system.
Prerequisites
The student should have attended a basic film course during his or her B.A.
Course unit content
The course focuses on theoretical matters related to film style and composition, and to film reception. The class will work on theoretical texts from different periods, to understand the evolution of the debate around the topics of the course. During the lectures, full movies and film sequences will be shown to support the theoretical discussion.
