Integrated course unit module: ODONTOSTOMATOLOGICAL DISCIPLINES I

Learning objectives

The purpose of the internship is to pre-cyclic enable the students through practical application activities, conducted in the laboratory and in classrooms mannequins, techniques and procedures essential preliminary clinical activity, providing students with the essential theoretical and practical notions that the permit a systematic and rational approach to the diagnosis and treatment of oral rehabilitation.
The clinical training is accomplished through the frequency of a clinical department with the aim of making the student acquire through clinical experience and direct participation under control tutorial, skills that enable them to be able to make a diagnosis and develop a proper treatment plan.

Course unit content

The placement of implants in the fourth year will include practical pre-clinical study carried out on models, extracted teeth, simulators, Practical exercises with modeling wax occlusal dental elements, and clinical exercises on patients with execution of first visits, photographic examination of patient , preparation of medical records and make a diagnosis and a treatment plan. Subsequently includes exercises on patients with clinical fingerprinting study, pouring and trimming models, taken face-bow, recording centric relation and installation of studio models in the articulator. There will also be
exercises concerning the evaluation of prosthetic abutments and edentulous saddles of X-rays, study models and photographs with making a diagnosis and its treatment plan.

Assessment methods and criteria

The assessment of the achievement of the objectives of the course involves the detection of pre-clinical and clinical activities carried out by the student and documented by the personal booklet of exercises. Will be asked questions to determine whether the student has achieved the goal of being able to correctly apply the knowledge gained.
