Learning objectives


the course has the goal of making students able to reach knowledge and comprehension of some basic and fundamental elements of general sociology. This in order to develop in students the competence of: - sociological observation and analysis of some social contexts;
- acting some communication strategies; - learning some skills to deal with insitutions.
At the end of the course, students should prove to have got: - knowledge and understanding of the basic elements of sociology (describer 1); - communication skills with institutions (describer 4); - applying sociological knowledge in order to act in a working context (describer 2); - to obserse and analyze working contexts from a sociological point of view (describer 3); - to communicate with groups and institutions (describer 4).

Prerequisites


Attitude to observe, analyze and think in a critical and sociological way.

Course unit content


The contents of the first part of the course are about the description of some basilar elements of society such as identity, roles and status, very important arguemnts in a multicultural context. Another very important content is social interaction in order to improve human relations in working contexts. We wil speak also of the difference between role and status. Special attention will be given to communication in order to prepare students to approach in the best way the relationship problems in working contexts. At the end, it will be treaten multicultural culture, a fundamental argument of aour days, in order to understand and eventually resolve problems of communication between people.

Teaching methods


In the first part of the course the lessons will be frontal. The students, however, will be sollecitated to answer continous questions, applying a brainstorming method. In the second part of the course, in order to develop the ability of sociological observation and analyzise, it will be proposed to students to act and sham some critical working situations to resolve with right communication strategies. rapresentations

Assessment methods and criteria


It will be proposed a written exam in order to check the acquisition of knwoledge, understanding and comprhension in theme of sociological arguments. Students will be asked to answer to four open questions. The minimal votation will be reached if students answer to three of the four questions. Evaluation will considere the knowledge, competence, clearness, grammar accuracy and personal thinking. The final vote will be between 0 and 30. Students will know their votes, looking at the university platform esse3, that leaves the possibility to accept or refuse the vote within 7 days.
