Course unit content
The course deals with epidemiological methodology as a fundamental tool for Public Health. In particular, it will deal with frequency measures and risk measures, and the main epidemiological studies.
The use of the questionnaire as a tool for the collection of epidemiological data will also be presented.
Full programme
Concepts of Hygiene and Public Health. Levels of prevention: primary, secondary, tertiary and quaternary.
Definition, objectives and applications of epidemiology. Descriptive epidemiological measures (morbidity and mortality). Epidemiological measures of associations (relative risk, attributable risk, odds ratio).
Criteria of associations.
Observational and experimental epidemiological studies. The questionnaire in research.

Teaching methods

Assessment methods and criteria
The assessment of the achievement of the objectives will be carried out by means of a writtem exam, wich will consists of multiple choice questions.
