Learning objectives
The course aims to teach, also with practical examples, the main techniques and procedures in oral surgery. Also, the course aims to provide an adequate mental and behavioral attitude for performing the profession of oral surgeon
Prerequisites
Deep knowledge of surgical anatomy, oral histology, general and oral physiology and pathology, biology of oral soft and hard tissues
Course unit content
The course is mainly focused on topics describing the most frequent procedures of oral surgery. Highlights are provided advanced on concepts of surgical anatomy, histopathology of oral lesion surgically managed, surgical pathology, description of practical approaches (e.g. incisions, flap elevation, dental extractions, sutures) and instruments necessary to perform procedures of oral surgery
