Integrated course unit module: ENVIRONMENT APPLIED PREVENTION SCIENCES

Learning objectives

The course aims to provide students with the basic knowledge necessary for the management and monitoring of water intended for human consumption by analyzing all the qualitative aspects that represent the necessary requirements for safe consumption. Furthermore, to complete the integrated water cycle, the issues related to the disposal of wastewater will be considered. Students will therefore have to acquire the tools to evaluate the quality of these substrates and the preventive treatments to be implemented for the protection of consumers and the environment.

Course unit content

The module will focus on the study of the integrated water cycle, thus completing the analysis of the various environmental compartments envisaged by the course. In particular, issues related to water destined for human consumption from supply to distribution will be described considering all the qualitative parameters and the purification treatments. Finally the waste waters will be described, distinguishing them based on the origin and characteristics, the collection and removal systems, treatment and disposal.

Full programme

Waters for human consumption:
water resources, sources of supply and their characteristics

Assessment methods and criteria

Acquired knowledge will be verified through an oral exam in which the student must demonstrate to know the main aspects that characterize the quality of the water and the meaning they acquire in the context of its monitoring. Likewise, for waste water, they must have understood which are the interventions to be implemented for their correct disposal with a view to environmental protection.
