Integrated course unit module: PRINCIPLES OF ODONTOIATRICS

Learning objectives

AIM: acquire knowledge and practical skills to manage Dental Hygiene and that constitute the basis to attend the following dental courses.
The student at the end of the course should:
- have knowledge of the scientific basis of dental hygiene
- have knowledge of periodontal diseases and their epidemiology
- have knowledge of periomedicine
- be competent at clinical periodontal data recording
- be competent at assessment and teaching of personal oral care
- be competent at lifestyle counseling
- be competent at the management of ergonomics and periodontal instruments

Course unit content

The course offers a critical appraisal to the scientific basis and operative procedures aimed at plaque control. Insight to the periodontal and systemic consequences of inadequate plaque control are offered.
