Learning objectives
The aim of this practical course is the knowledge of oral medicine with practical sessions on patient and discussion of clinical cases
Prerequisites
Anatomy of the head-neck region
Oral pathology of the head-neck region
Knowledge of the main haematochemical tests and their significance in oral medicine
Course unit content
- Fulfillment of medical record
- Training in performing photographs in oral medicine
- Training in performing oral medicine surgery
- Training in haematochemical and instrumental tests prescription
Full programme
-Clinical examinations of patients with oral diseases
- Fulfillment of medical records and clinical and / or instrumental examinations
- Photographs of oral lesions
- Biopsies performed with cold blade and punch blade on tissue models
- Assistance and participation in biopsy performing and/or removal of oral lesions
-Discussion of medical scientific literature and clinical cases

Teaching methods
Traineeship on models (biopsy and suture) and on patients
Discussion of clinical cases.
Lectures will be held on-site in compliance with safety standards, provided that further instructions on the ongoing health emergency are not implemented. Supporting material will be available on the specific, student-reserved platform (Elly) and will include slide presentations, audio-video aids or video-recording of the lectures.
Assessment methods and criteria
Presence and active participation of the student at clinical training and in the discussion of clinical cases
