Learning objectives
The student is expected to acquire and understand the means to be able to formulate the diagnosis and define treatment for the most common children’s diseases with odontostomatological features, offering a broad spectrum of specialist healthcare, appropriate and efficacious in the dental care of children, adolescents and patients with associated diseases. Particular emphasis will be placed on prevention techniques, clinical assessment and treatment of traumas.
Prerequisites
Students must have passed all the examinations of the previous years
Course unit content
The normal and pre-term newborn, clinical examination and physiological phenomena.

- Nutrition: breast-feeding, weaning, children

-Semeiotics pediatric pulmonary
-Pneumonia and bronchiolitis
-Asthma
-Cystic Fibrosis
-PUpper respiratory tract diseases
-Diagnosis and treatment of diabetes mellitus at onset in childhood
-Pathophysiology and clinical of major congenital heart disease
-Cardiomyopathies
-Main chromosome abnormalities
-Gastronteritis acute, malabsorption, inflammatoriy bowel disease, - Gastroesophageal reflux -
-Glomerulonephritis and nephrosis
-Rheumatic Disease
-Leukemia and major childhood cancers-Urinary Tract Infections
-Growth physiology and pathology (growth delay: primary and secondary growth hormone deficiency)
-Epilepsy and convulsions
-The patient with neurological damage
-Endocrine diseases
-Main systemic diseases that affect the oral cavity and dentition / tooth
-Use of pain medication/antibiotics in children.
