Acquisition of specific knowledge on flexible pavement design from material design to the real infrastructure design.

Reccomended "Construction of Roads, Railways and Airports"

Course unit content

Design and Characterization of asphalt materials with laboratory experience. Design of flexible pavements using appropriate software.

Principles of flexible pavement design
Traffic and environmental analysis
Mixture design and characterization: from aggregate curve design to asphalt mix design using Superpave procedure with partial exercises both in class and in laboratory
Asphalt Institute and AASHTO procedures for asphalt mixture pavement design
Use of software for pavement design with class exercises
