Internships

The University of Parma promotes internships in order to facilitate professional choices through direct knowledge of the world of work and study-work alternation experiences.
The curricular internship integrates and completes the student's curriculum through the performance of practical activities which, on the basis of the provisions of their respective degree course regulations, may be carried out in structures within the University or externally at qualified public and private bodies with which the University has entered into appropriate agreements.
The internship involves three parties: the student, the promoter (the University of Parma) and the host (company or organisation) where the activity is carried out under the guidance of a university tutor, a University professor/instructor and a company supervisor.
Curricular internships are not a prerequisite for an employment relationship between the intern and the host structure, nor can they be a substitute for company labour or professional services.

Internships

Internships are subdivided into 'Curricular Internships ', i.e. training periods carried out by students in companies or University Departments as part of their programme of study, and 'Extracurricular Internships ', i.e. training periods reserved for graduates within twelve months of obtaining their academic qualification.
In the 2nd year, the programme of study provides for the possibility for students to choose either the laboratory or curricular internship for which they accrue ECTS credits.
The university has identified an office within the Student Services and Careers Division.
Please refer to the University page for the activation procedures for curricular internships https://www.unipr.it/en/curricular-internships-online

The Education Manager is however available to provide students with any requests for information or clarifications.
Please note that as of 2016, the internship will be activated online for internships with companies/institutions based in Italy and that if the student has autonomously identified a host company or institution, this company/institution must initiate the procedure indicated in the link above under "Start internship with known student" (See "Practical Guide for Companies").
Students may have the opportunity to carry out internships abroad at companies, institutions or universities by joining international mobility programmes provided by the Internationalisation Division or on the initiative of departmental professors/instructors.
For this type of 'Internship Abroad', it is advisable to contact the degree course education manager, as the procedure for activating this type of internship requires the use of specific forms.
Finally, enrolled students may also carry out their curricular Internships within departmental or administrative structures of the university.  For this type of internship, the contact person is

Prof. Maria Giovanna Tanda and the internship activation method is online.

All information on internships can be found on the following pages:

Finally, guides detailing all the procedures to be followed by the various parties involved in the internship are to be found under:

IMPORTANT NOTE: In order to allow the offices sufficient time to carry out the subsequent steps, it is necessary for the Host Institutions (for external placements) and the Internship Contacts/Tutors (for internal placements) to enter the training plan into the computer application at least 15 working days before the start date of the internship, which allows sufficient time to complete the entire process.
