Learning objectives
The course aims to improve the knowledge of the main dental equipment in order to allow the student to have critical skill in evaluating the different products on the market and know their main features. To provide the student the importance of proper communication with the patient to properly relate with the patient from the first meeting and subsequent sessions.

Course unit content
To know and understand the equipment in the dental practice with particular reference to dental unit and its components. To know and understand the importance of reorganisation procedures, sterilisation and maintenance of the unit.
To train students to check the proper sterilization of dental instruments, as well as the maintenance of the instrumentation of the study.
Knowing how to properly communicate to the patient through an appropriate counseling during the first visit and subsequent sessions.
Knowing how to organize a set for a first oral examination and preparation of the toolkit for the main operational procedures. To understand, know and choose the main working positions.
To know the techniques of performing intraoral radiographs with the use of centering.

Teaching methods
Lectures, with slides and videos and supplemented by discussion of topics in order to train students in critical skills on the topics and to provide them proper knowledge for the management of the patient affected by specific diseases in the Oro- Maxillofacial facial region.
Assessment methods and criteria
Written examination with multiple choice test, in order to ensure the quality and level of knowledge and understanding of the course content and the ability to apply the acquired knowledge to professional practice. The trial will also evaluate the quality of student participation during the course.
