Learning objectives
The course aims to enable students to know and understand the specific discipline, in order to provoke a passion exceeding the simple overcoming of the final examination of the course, stimulating in them the curiosity to deepen the varied arguments so to reach a good professional training to be able to diagnose and to differentiate the varied pathological conditions during their future activity.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
The students at the end of the course will demonstrate knowledge and understanding about:
Embryology and oro-maxillo-facial anatomy
Congenital malformations: lip and palate cleft, syndrome of the 1st and 2nd branchial arch, craniofacial dysostosis
Dysmorphoses: maxillary retrusion, maxillary protrusion, mandibular retrusion, progenic, laterognazia, open bite, macroglassia
Traumatology: wounds of the face, maxillary, zygomatic, mandibular fractures, condylar fractures, malunited craniofacial fractures
Neoplasms: skin cancers of the face and lips, epithelial tumors of the oral cavity and jaws, Etiology and pathogenesis of carcinoma of the oral cavity, symptoms and signs of cancer and cervical metastases therapy, combined therapies, staging, mesenchymal tumors, cysts and odontogenic tumors , salivary gland tumors, reconstructive maxillofacial surgery
Inflammatory processes: odontogenic maxillary sinusitis, oral-sinus communication, salivary calculi, sialadenitis
Temporomandibular joint: algic-dysfunctional syndrome, temporomandibular joint ankylosis, recurrent dislocation, extra-articular limitation of mouth opening
Prerequisites
Having successfully completed the preclinical Courses

Teaching methods
Class lessons and practice. The program themes will be discussed with the aid of slides. The proposed topics will be the subject of collective discussion and study on the basis of ideas and any questions raised during the lessons themselves.
Assessment methods and criteria
The achievement of the goals of the course is verified by an oral exam.
Answering questions about the contents of the course, the student will demonstrate whether he/she has achieved the goals of knowledge and understanding of the contents and the ability to apply the acquired knowledge.
