Laboratories

The Department has 41 research laboratories, divided into the following specialist areas:

  • Normal veterinary anatomy: histology, hard tissues, immunohistochemistry, cell culture, preparation under the electronic microscope, museum of veterinary anatomy, necropsy room, microscopic anatomy.
  • Zootechnics and animal production: feed analysis, artificial rumen, centesimal analysis and fibrous fraction, spectrometry, extraction and chromatography, gas chromatography, milk and dairy products, molecular biology of food, atomic absorption tests.
  • Infectious diseases: bacteriology, virology I and II, diagnostics, molecular biology.
  • Parasitology: parasitic diagnostics, molecular biology.
  • Microbiology, general pathology and veterinary pathological anatomy: microbiology, histopathology I and II, immunopathology and cell cultures, necropsy room.
  • Veterinary biochemistry and physiology: radioisotopes, hormone dosage, molecular biology, protein chemistry, protein purification, cell cultures.
  • Inspection of food of animal origin: food analysis I and II, molecular biology.
  • Veterinary pharmacology and toxicology.

The Teaching University Veterinary Hospital (OVUD) supports healthcare and clinical research activities in general medicine, medical clinic, cardiology, neurology, surgical clinic, obstetric clinic, medicine and surgery of non-conventional animals, emergency medicine and intensive care.
