Course presentation

The Chemistry degree course provides the student with a solid theoretical and experimental background in the various fields of chemistry.
Thanks to the knowledge and skills acquired, the graduate is able to place himself/herself easily in all contexts requiring mastery of the scientific method, use of instrumentation of chemical interest and management of risk and safety regulations, as well as to continue his/her studies in Second-cycle degree courses.

Training course

In addition to the acquisition of mathematical and physical skills, the training includes the in-depth study of the fundamental chemical disciplines (general and inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, analytical chemistry and physical chemistry). Basic courses are supplemented by teaching in the area of complex systems chemistry such as industrial chemistry, biochemistry and polymer chemistry.
The course units include theoretical content, classroom exercises and laboratory activities.
An English course and safety training are also provided. The training is completed with elective course units and concludes with an experimental internship.
The internship includes a short traineeship in a research laboratory inside or outside the university and the preparation of a short technical/scientific report that the student discusses during the final examination.
In addition to disciplinary preparation, the graduate acquires a number of skills that are relevant for entry into the world of work and useful for further studies. These include the use of the English language to convey information in the chemical field and the ability to present the results of one's work in both written and oral form, also with the aid of computer and multimedia supports.

Laboratory activities

Laboratory activity is a distinctive and fundamental aspect of the chemistry degree course. With the aim of facilitating the understanding of theoretical concepts and at the same time providing the necessary technical-practical skills, most chemistry course units are complemented by the corresponding laboratory.
During the exercises, the student acquires the experimental skills to independently conduct synthesis and chemical analysis activities, use modern instrumentation and behave in accordance with the safety regulations of a chemical laboratory.
