Learning objectives

The educational objectives of this course include:

Basic knowledge acquisition: Providing students with a solid understanding of the fundamental principles related to clinical imaging, including basic concepts related to light, sound, force, and magnetic fields.
Microscopy deepening: Deepening students' knowledge in linear and nonlinear microscopy, allowing them to explore objects and infinitely small structures and understand the complex methods of visualization and analysis associated with them.
Advanced techniques: Enabling students to master advanced techniques such as fluorescence and three-dimensional reconstruction, allowing them to apply these methodologies in specific clinical contexts.
Clinical applications: Providing students with an overview of the clinical applications of these imaging techniques, allowing them to understand how to use them in medical and biomedical research settings.
Analytical skills: Developing students' ability to analyze and interpret images generated through various imaging techniques, thereby contributing to diagnosis, research, and understanding of biological processes.
These educational objectives aim to provide students with comprehensive and in-depth training in the field of clinical imaging.

Course unit content

The course will primarily focus on deepening the skills in clinical imaging, providing students with a solid knowledge base ranging from the fundamental principles related to image acquisition using light, sound, force, and magnetic fields.

Additionally, students will have the opportunity to delve into the world of linear and nonlinear microscopy in detail. These advanced techniques will allow them to investigate objects and structures infinitely small, opening new perspectives for clinical studies. They will be able to understand the complex methods of visualization and analysis used in microscopy, including fluorescence, which reveals specific details within biological samples, and three-dimensional reconstruction, which provides a complete spatial representation of the subjects under examination.

In summary, this course will offer comprehensive and diverse training in the field of clinical imaging, preparing students for a wide range of applications and tools that will be essential for their future careers in the medical or biomedical research fields.

Assessment methods and criteria

"Written exam. During this test, the candidate will be assessed on their ability to understand and explain the various imaging modalities available, as well as the sources that power them. Additionally, the candidate will be required to provide a comprehensive rationale for choosing one imaging modality over another, highlighting the advantages and specific applications of each. This exam aims to evaluate the candidate's deep understanding of diverse imaging technologies and their ability to contextualize and apply this knowledge in real clinical situations."
