Integrated course unit module: BASICS OF PREVENTION

Learning objectives

Provide basic concepts pertaining to epidemiologic aspects and prevention of infectious diseases from exposure in a professional context and the instruments necessary for prevenction.

Course unit content

The student is expected to be familiar with the epidemiological and preventive aspects of the main infections to which he/she could be exposed in the course of occupational activities.

Full programme

Infections of particular interest for professional reasons: orofecal transmission(HAV,S.tyhi); blood borne transmission (HBV,HDV,HCV,HIV);infections connected with traumas (Tetanus); Influenza.
Opportunities for prevention through vaccination: vaccines and vaccine strategies.
