Learning objectives

1) Develop the critical skills necessary in adopting translation strategies for different text types, also at a contrastive level.
2) Reach a high level of competence in the various language skills as well as those of translation.
3) Be able to present personal research projects in English.

Course unit content

The Multiple Levels of analysis in the translation process and product.

The aim of this course is to further develop contrastive analyses of translation strategies in diverse text genres (literary, film, Institutional websites. In particular, we will focus on examples of film transposition (from literary text to film), audiovisual translation (dubbing and subtitling) as well as parallel and / or comparable texts of websites (e.g.European Unione, universities, multinational companies), with a view to identifying their characteristic features for the purposes of translation.After an initial theoretical input, course participants will be asked to present their own research of a topic relating to their own particular curriculum interests.
