- Historical and critical analysis of the fundamental concepts of the ethical discourse (I Dublin Descriptor)
- Application of the acquired theoretical skills to the analysis of the moral and civil problems encountered in contemporary public debate (II descriptor)
- Ability of arguing and communicating about the moral concepts examined during the course, and of developing them autonomously (III, IV e V descriptor)

Course unit content
The course is divided into two parts: the first part (about 2/3 of the course lenght) the fundamental concepts of ethics are examined from an historical and a theoretical perspectives, in order to asses their role in the contemporary debate. In the second part the focus is on the analysis of works that make a specific use of these concepts.

Teaching methods
The course will consists of lectures.
Assessment methods and criteria
Evaluation is based on the writing of a short dissertation assigned bei the teacher and discussed during an oral exam. The final grade will result from the assessment of the quality of the dissertation and of the student's performance in the oral exposition and argumentation.
