Learning objectives
The course consists of an initial stage of classroom lectures, followed by a second stage of seminar-based lessons. Together with the course, we propose to provide elements of the historiographical debate concerning 20th century architecture and design, and a knowledge of the debate on mounting design and the role of the curator.

Course unit content
The course is based on the analyses of case studies which document the history of exhibitions from the last half of the 19th and all of the 20th centuries. The problems we intend to highlight are those of the role of the mounting project in relation to the type of exhibition (we will not be limited, therefore, to analysing artistic exhibitions, but we will start from universal exhibitions as a place for the profusion of merchandise), and thus the central idea of the design of curating, selecting and organizing the “objects”. We will also seek to identify the times and ways of impact between the creation of environments and mounting in the scope of artistic research, and the mounting project in its strictest sense.
