Learning objectives
The course is aimed at a basic understanding of the major diseases of neurosurgical interest: CNS tumours, with special focus on their epidemiology, symptoms and treatment principles; head and spinal injuries, with respect to pathophysiology, emergency and clinical management of post-traumatic focal and diffuse lesions; cerebral haemorrhaging, with a definition of primary and secondary causes and with strict reference to differential diagnosis; spondyloarthrosis, epidemiology and clinical management of lumbar/cervical herniated disk, hydrocephalus and syringomyelia; adult normal-pressure hydrocephalus and differential diagnosis with dementia.
