Course unit content

The course focuse on the question of relationship between the kinds of knowledge honored in academia and the kinds of competences valued in professional practices, particularly on the matter that the universities are institutions committed to a specific epistemology that fosters selective inattention to practical and professional problems, wich cope with the unique, contextual, incertain and conflicted cases. The course offer an approach to epistemology of practice based on a close examination of what practitioners -f.i. psychologyst and teachers- usually do in their work and how competent practitioner knows more than says because most of knowing-in-practice is tacit. Besides the course suggest implications for the professional's relations to his clients, the interaction of research and practice, the place of profession in the larger society and finally for the education of practitioners.
