Learning objectives

The course aims to achieve the following relative objectives:
a. Knowledge and understanding. The course aims to provide the main interpretative keys relating to the topic of food security.
b. Ability to apply knowledge and understanding. Students will develop a skill in the analysis of the main factors that act on food security at national, family and individual levels.
c. Autonomy of judgment. Students will develop a critical sense in judging the food security conditions in developing and developed countries.
d. Communication skills. Development of relationship and communication skills in relations with stakeholders
e. Ability to learn. The study method provided group moments of frontal lessons, discussion work, individual analysis, discussion of the topics addressed in the classroom.

Course unit content

The course will deal with the theme of food security in developing and developed countries with the aim of providing students with theoretical and practical elements aimed at understanding the problems underlying food security, the main theories that feed the strategies for a correct food security policy, the tools to measure the level of food insecurity using the available statistical sources, the role of agricultural producers and the choices of consumers among the various food security strategies.
