Learning objectives

This course aims to relate event or trade show planning to thecommunication planning process and the later assessment andcomparison of the achieved results. Students will be finally able to judgeautonomously; develop their own communication skills; spot remarkablenews worth spreading in accordance with the law that press officers needto take into account; elaborate a message according to the objectives ofthe type of communication to be planned; use all the tools and the latesttechniques to improve relations with the press; autonomously planevents that may perfectly represent the – either private or public –company mission statement on the basis of the specific objectives of boththe learning area and the Bachelor’s degree to which this course belongs

Aptitude for teamwork, basic knowledge of the media

Course unit content

The first part of our course concerns theoretic topics, evaluation, dataand trend analysis in the fairs sector at national and international level.Classes will address the topic from a cultural, social and economicperspective analysing the best practices of valorisation and marketing oflocal food and wine: running the benefits analysis, looking at theobjectives, describing strategies and tools in the fair context. Particularattention will be paid to the use of grammar and syntax, and to the mainrules of content creation.The second part of the course addresses the actual planning,implementation and management of a fair or an event. Students willdevelop a project, verifying its feasibility and reviewing it based on theset objectives.The third part of the course will move on to the communication plan forthe event or trade show, developing a strategic information plan for themedia issuing press releases, creating the press review and comparingthe press review with the event or trade show programme. Then, newcommunication contexts and several different storytelling techniques willbe also discussed during the course

Teaching methods

Educational activities will be carried out through active learning andinteractive classes. During classes the exchange with students will beencouraged through the presentation of case studies and theorganization of follow up workshops.All slides presented during the classes will be made available at the endof the course on Elly platform. In order to download the materials,students must subscribe the course online. Slides are considered integralpart of the teaching material
