Pharmacology of the autonomic and somatic nervous systems. Cholinergic and adrenergic neurotransmission. Cholinergic drugs (direct and indirect agonists; muscarinic antagonists; agents acting at the neuromuscular junction and autonomic ganglia). Adrenergic drugs (agonists and antagonists).
CNS drugs. General and local anesthetics. Hypnotics, sedatives, anxiolitics. Antiepileptic drugs; Antipsychotics. Antidepressants. Drugs for neurodegenerative diseases (eg Parkinson). Opiod and non-opiod analgesics. Drug abuse.
Chemiotherapeutic agents. General concepts: definitions, uses, mechanisms of action, resistance. Antimicrobial and antiviral drugs. Antineoplastic agents.
Cardiovascular drugs. Antihypertensive drugs. Drugs used in angina. Antiarrythmic drugs. Drugs for heart failure. Drugs used in the treatment of hyperlipoproteinemias. Hematopoietic agents. Anticoagulants. Thrombolytic agents.
Renal drugs. Diuretics and anti-diuretics.
Drugs of the respiratory system. Drugs used in the treatment of asthma. Antitussive agents.
Gastrointestinal drugs. Drugs used for the treatment of ulcers. Agents affecting intestinal motility. Antiemetics. Laxatives.
Drugs of inflammation. Non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID). Steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Drugs used in the treatment of gout.
Autacoids. Histamine and anti-histamine. Serotonin and its antagonists.
