Third Dublin Descriptor: Autonomy in Judgment
The student should be able to propose care pathways and therapies in various common scenarios.
Fourth Dublin Descriptor: Communication Skills
The student will have the opportunity to verify the use of appropriate medical terminology and will see it applied among colleagues and between doctor and patient.

Areas of Internship Application:
Gynecological Area
Transvaginal and transabdominal ultrasound
Diagnostic-operational hysteroscopy
Cavity examination
Laparoscopy
PAP-TEST execution and reporting
Examples of colposcopic findings
Obstetric Area
The student will observe the management of the pregnancy chart, obstetric evaluation of the full-term pregnant woman (Leopold’s maneuvers and symphysis-fundus measurement), execution of cardiotocographic tracing, description of labor phenomena and operative delivery (caesarean section).
The goal is also to familiarize the student with the organizational methods of integrated care at a high level of complexity, and the communication tools between hospital facilities and the community.
Prerequisites
To undertake the internship, the student must have started attending the course and acquired the minimum anatomical knowledge of the female genitalia and pelvis. The internship is an essential prerequisite for the oral exam and, therefore, recognizes as prerequisites those indicated in the gynecology and obstetrics course.

Teaching methods
The internship is generally carried out through attendance at the gynecology and obstetrics departments and clinics. The student is supervised by a structured professional from the clinic in the various sectors, having the opportunity to directly assist in clinical practice, ask questions related to the clinical case, and formulate diagnostic and therapeutic hypotheses. The student can also participate in daily meetings discussing clinical cases.
Assessment methods and criteria
The tutor checks the students' attendance and the regular learning of the course contents
Other information
The methods for carrying out the internship are outlined in the syllabus of the integrated course of Gynecology and Obstetrics.
The student can self-enroll through the Elly platform.
The organization of the internship period and access to individual departments is predefined and provided to students at the beginning of the attendance.
