Learning objectives
The Bachelor of Audiology is part of the Integrated Course of Disease of Head and Neck and aims to enable the student to know and to understand the essential elements of clinical and instrumental diagnosis of diseases within audio-vestibolari.The student must acquire the ability to use knowledge and understanding in order to interpret the different clinical pictures, with particular attention to the differential diagnosis of hearing loss and peripheral vertigo.
Prerequisites
Having passed all the examinations of pre-clinical courses.
Course unit content
The first lessons of anatomy and physiology of the calls relate to auditory and vestibular systems with hints of psychoacoustics. Subsequently, the lessons are aimed to deepen clinical semiotics and instrumental of the auditory and vestibular apparatus. You specify, then, classification of hearing loss and the differential diagnosis of deafness, through the diagnostic audiological instrumental (liminal tonal audiometry, speech audiometry, impedance, otoacoustic emissions, Auditory Evoked Potentials). It tackles, then, by means of auditory rehabilitation and prosthesis implantable hearing aid. The second part of the course includes the study of vestibular symptoms and differential diagnosis of balance disorders (vestibular clinical examination and instrumental).

Teaching methods
The course will be held through lectures to Students either in the classroom (“in presenza”) or in synchronous-streaming (“in telepresenza”) on the Teams platform. Therefore, the opportunity of Student/Teacher interaction will be preserved both face to face and remotely, by the simultaneous use of the Teams platform.
Lectures will be supported by slide presentations, which will be available to students on the Elly platform (https://elly2020.medicina.unipr.it/).
Assessment methods and criteria
The assessment of learning and knowledge takes place during the appeals provided for by the teaching calendar, by oral, in the presence of the Committee of Professors of the Integrated Course of Disease of Head and Neck. The student must be able to demonstrate the knowledge to make a correct differential diagnosis of clinical and instrumental audio-vestibular disordersIn case of the persistence of the health emergency, the exams will be conducted remotely, as follows:
remote oral questions, through the Teams platform (guide http://selma.unipr.it/).
