Learning objectives

At the end of the training activity the student will be able to:
1) know the fundamentals of the etiology and pathophysiology of the surgical diseased of domestic animals discussed during the course
2) know how to apply the acquired knowledge to identify clinical consequences of each patient
3) evaluate the critical issues and prognostic aspects of the surgical diseases discussed during the course
4) communicate with a proper terminology definitions, classification and etiology of the diseases discussed during the course
5) be able to modify judgment depending on the clinical status of the patients

Course unit content

The course provides fundamental knowledge on the etiology and pathophysiology and some grasps of diagnosis and prognosis of the more common surgical diseases of domestic animals

Teaching methods

Didactic activities are carried out with frontal lessons in the classroom and with interactive clinical case presentations on a single topic and in-depth seminars during practical activity. The slides used to support the lessons are directly available by the teacher at the beginning of the course. The slides used to support practical activity are available by the teacher at the end of each session of practical activity. The slides used to support frontal lessons and practical activities are an integral part of the teaching material.

Assessment methods and criteria

The examination is an oral exam based on at least 3 questions strictly connected to the contents of the course. The questions evaluate the knowledge of the topic, the ability to apply this knowledge, autonomy of judgment, communication and learning skills.
The final mark is given immediately at the end of the examination.
