The student applies the technical knowledge in an research context and on real cases. He is invited, whenever the conditions are met, to propose modifications to the design solutions.

The student is encouraged to identify the best strategy to solve practical problems

The student has to communicate and act with Teachers and technicians with different background

The student improves the auto-learning capacity, getting in touch with new problem and learning how to manage the new challenges
Prerequisites
Since the stage is supposed to provide the chance to apply engineering expertise in a working environment, the student should apply for it only when he has acquired a good deal of such expertise. Therefore, the stage is scheduled in the last semester of the second year and after the achievement of at least 110 CFU
Course unit content
Students may apply for a stage period at the University of Parma to get in touch with a research context. The student is followed in this activity, described in a training project agreed with the academic tutor (the President of the Degree Course), by a teaching tutor ("company" tutor).
Students may select stage opportunities by contacting any teacher of the degree course.
For each ECTS credit, 25 hours of stage are foreseen

Teaching methods
Learning by practice with the control of the teacher tutor and the academic supervisor
Assessment methods and criteria
At the end of the stage the student fills in the form on the stage experience and report on the activities. Then the academic supervisor validates the acquisition of the ECTS credits.
