The course in brief

The Degree Course in Mechanical Engineering has as its main objectives the training of engineers with adequate knowledge of the methodological aspects of the basic sciences, the sciences of industrial engineering in general and with specific skills in mechanical engineering. Mechanical Engineering graduates will have to apply the appropriate techniques and use the appropriate tools for the design and testing of machine components, plants, production processes, energy transformation and management processes, and mechanical systems in general; they will have to acquire, analyse, process and interpret data from experimental observations and keep their knowledge up-to-date. In the course of their work, mechanical engineers must also be familiar with the problems involving the economic and organisational aspects of a company, and must be aware of the professional and ethical responsibilities arising from their decisions. Mechanical engineers will therefore have an interdisciplinary background based on sound basic preparation and complete mastery of the technical and scientific methods and contents of engineering.

Double degree programme

Thanks to an international agreement between the two institutions, the Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering also offers the opportunity to undertake a double degree programme at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) public university in Newark, New Jersey (USA). This integrated study programme provides for our students to attend a teaching period at NJIT and allows them to acquire the double degree of Master in Mechanical Engineering issued by NJIT with legal validity in the USA.
