Integrated course unit module: KIDNEY AND URINARY TRACT PATHOLOGIES

Learning objectives

The student, at the end of the course, by integrating the his/her background of anatomy, and physiology, should be able to demonstrate full knowledge of major urologic diseases and syndromes

Anatomy, physiology, general pathology

Course unit content

The Urology course is part of the integrated course on kidney and urinary tract diseases. The course gives the student the basic elements in order to understand etiology, pathogenesis, clinical aspects, diagnosis and therapy of the main urological diseases and syndromes

- Urodynamics
- benign renal tumors and renal cell carcinoma
- urothelial cancer of the urinay system
- prostate cancer
- testicular cancer
- acute and non-acute scrotal conditions in the ault
- neurological bladder
- urinary incontinence
- male sexual dysfunction
- nephrolithiasis: urological aspects
- obstructive nephropathy, including benign prostate hyperplasia and vescico-ureteral reflux

Teaching methods

The course will be held through lectures to Students either in the classroom (“in presenza”) or in synchronous-streaming (“in telepresenza”) on the Teams platform. Therefore, the opportunity of Student/Teacher interaction will be preserved both face to face and remotely, by the simultaneous use of the Teams platform.
Lectures will be supported by slide presentations, which will be available to students on the Elly platform (https://elly2020.medicina.unipr.it/).

Assessment methods and criteria

Oral examination.
In case of the persistence of the health emergency, the exams will be conducted remotely, as follows:
remote oral questions, through the Teams platform (guide http://selma.unipr.it/).
