Integrated course unit module: HYGIENE

Learning objectives

This course of study aims to teach the student to deal with clinical problems of patients suffering from the most common diseases of General Medicine.
The student must be:
- able to make a clinical investigation plan for diagnosis,
- able to evaluate clinical and instrumental data in differential diagnosis, make a therapeutic, pharmacological and non-pharmacological plan for the acute disease and chronic phase, know to apply preventive measures.
It also aims to introduce the student the reality of the territory that includes all the services provided by USL, including the role of the general practitioner.

Prerequisites

Knowledge of semeiotics and clinical methodology, pathophysiology and pharmacology.

Course unit content

Role of family doctor in the “Servizio Sanitario Nazionale (SSN)”.
Organization of territorial Medicine: “Medicina di Gruppo” and “Case della Salute”.
Clinical role of general practitioner.
Development of General Medicine in Italy: from the health insurance scheme to SSN.
New technologies in General Medicine.
Development of integration and collaboration in the territory and with the local hospital.
Competences of the General Practitioner: prevention of health promotion and disease screening, take charge of symptoms development, make differential diagnosis, framing of diagnostic-therapeutic programs (PDTA) of disease or uncomplicated clinical conditions.
Outpatient and home coordination treatment for single or multiple diseases (TISEASE/CASE MANAGEMENT)
Coordination of outpatient and home care of frail patients with multiple morbidities.
Coordination of home end-of-life care for dying patients.
Development and integration with the territory through ADI (Integrated Home Care), intermediate care, community hospitals.
Development of integration with the hospital through the UMMs.
Local services in “Case della Salute”.

Basic medicine as told to medical students Part 1
The Eco-assisted visit: execution of the examination, indications and its objectives in thoraco-abdominal pathology.
The basic medicine told to the students of Medicine Part 2
Family medicine at the time of the Coronavirus and the role of the family doctor in the SSN.
Territorial medicine, PDTA and ADI. Group Medicine and Health Homes.
Primary Care: the GP between past, present and future 1
Primary Care: the GP between past, present and future 2
Screening of the movie "Next Generation MMG" by SIMG (Italian Society of General Medicine and Primary Care) + The Parma model: Hospital-Territory Integration (UMM, SPOC on call specialist, anti-Covid Operations Center)
Home care, intermediate care and community hospital.

Assessment methods and criteria

The module is an integral part of the course "Hygiene, public health and health policies"
The course includes an oral exam in order to assess the knowledge and skills acquired by the students during the course; moreover critical analysis and communication skills acquired will be evaluated.
In case of the persistence of the health emergency, the exams will be conducted remotely, as follows:
remote oral questions, through the Teams platform (guide http://selma.unipr.it/).
