A city consists primarily of houses. These are the connective tissue of the urban structure, these are the necessary link between the large special buildings and the group of citizens. They are the very foundation of the civitas and the architecture. For this reason, the course focuses on the design of the house as an essential moment of the didactic experience. A series of lectures accompanied by workshop work with the purpose of providing students with initial critical knowledge on which to base the compositional experiences of the years to come.

Bibliography

Those indicated at the workshop. Further targeted bibliographical information is given with respect to specific issues addressed.

Teaching methods

The workshop work through revisions, both individual and collective, of the design work by the students along with a series of lectures, constitute the basic tools of the teaching experience.

Assessment methods and criteria

The student is obliged to exhibit the project done and its path. Student assessment is made by taking into account both the final result and his/her application in the various phases of the project. The evaluation is sufficient if the project demonstrates a capacity acquired to address the issue, in terms of approach but also in terms of graphic representation and verbal presentation. In addition to the final check there are some moments of intermediate verification of learning, conducted at seminar groups within the confines of the single workshop.
