Integrated course unit module: KIDNEY AND URINARY TRACT PATHOLOGIES

Learning objectives

Once completed the course, students will comprehend the physiopathological bases of the main disorders of osmotic and electrolyte homeostasis so as and apply this information to the study of kidney disorders.

Prerequisites

The requirements have been determined by the Medical School Council.

Course unit content

The pathophysiology of fluid, electrolyte and acid-base disorders.

Full programme

Osmotic and Volume disorders: pathophysiology of water and sodium disorders

Electrolyte disorders: alterations of potassium homeostasis and acid-base disorders.

Disorders of calcium, phosphorus and magnesium.

Teaching methods

Interactive oral lessons supported by iconographic material that will be available for students on the Elly Platform. The active participation of the students will be elicited through questions and simple problems.

Assessment methods and criteria
