Learning objectives

Course Objectives
The course aims to provide students with the relevant skills, recognition and interpretation of signs and symptoms (medical history and objectives) and classification of the disease in question. It is also proposed to provide expertise for the establishment of a more effective communication with the patient and his family, which is necessary for the information directly to the patient, and the ability to identify the scope and limits of the powers of the doctor is not a specialist in treatment of diseases of the Locomotor Apparatus.

Orthopedics and traumatology.
Historical orthopedics. - Congenital hip dysplasia (definition, etiology, principles of orthopedic and surgical therapy). Congenital clubfoot. Cavus foot, flat foot. Hallux valgus. Metatarsalgia. Torticollis (congenital and osseous, secondary torticollis). Meta-epiphyseal dystrophies or juvenile osteochondrosis (Perthes disease, slipped capital femoral epiphysis). Scoliosis (congenital and acquired, juvenile idiopathic scoliosis) (Diagnosis, clinical features and principles of therapy). Osteoarthritis (overview, classification, clinical and radiographic findings and principles of therapy). Osteoarthritis of the hip, knee and spine. Generalities of disc and herniated disc pathologies. Generalities on primary bone and soft tissues tumors and metastatic lesions.
General principles of traumatology (contusions, sprains, dislocations and fractures) with its diagnosis, classification, treatment and complications. Processes of healing of a fracture. - Delay of consolidation and pseudoarthrosis. Spine fractures. Fractures of the femoral neck. Capsular and ligament injuries of the knee and meniscal tears. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Dupuytren's disease. Rizoarthrosis. Trigger finger. Hand and rheumatoid arthritis. Carpal scaphoid fractures. De Quervain’s disease.
PRINCIPLES OF PHYSICAL MEDICINE AND REHABILITATION.
Instrumental Physiotherapy: thermotherapy, endogenous hyperthermia, cryotherapy, electrotherapy, Tens, laser therapy, CEMP, ultrasound shock waves. Major rehabilitation methods: assisted active and passive Kinesiology, occupational therapy, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation, massage therapy. Rehabilitation programs in the chronic-degenerative and traumatic diseases of the musculoskeletal system.
Rheumatology.
Classification of rheumatic diseases. The inflammatory arthropathy: clinical features, differential diagnosis and therapy: rheumatoid arthritis, seronegative arthritis (ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, Reiter's syndrome). – Connective diseases: clinical features, differential diagnosis and therapy of LES, Scleroderma, and dermatopolymyositis. Vasculitis: clinical features, differential diagnosis and therapy; polymyalgia rheumatica, temporal arteritis. Osteoarthritis: clinical features, differential diagnosis and therapy. Microcrystalline arthropathies: clinical features, differential diagnosis and therapy. Extra-articular rheumatism: clinical features, differential diagnosis and therapy. Fibromyalgia: clinical features, differential diagnosis and therapy. Osteoporosis, Paget's disease and complex regional pain syndrome. The general pharmacologic treatment of rheumatic diseases.
