Learning objectives

the Course "The speech therapy in disorders of speech and fluency" is part of Integrated Course of phono-Speech and aims to enable the student to know and understand the clinical picture of fluency disorders in children and adolescents, diagnostic tools , the rehabilitation methods available.
The course also aims to enable the student to use the knowledge and understanding gained, in order to be autonomous in the assessment, selection of appropriate rehabilitation method to the case, in the planning of the objectives of the intervention, in environmental management family and school related.

Course unit content

the first part of lezioniè focused on the grading of fluency disorders, with reference to the age of development (evaluation mode, diagnostic classification, differential diagnosis, etiology, epidemiology, prognostic factors).
Specifically, the case study is presented of the Unit of Functional Neurology and Rehabilitation of Parma.
It is then proposed an overview of the main rehabilitation approaches in the literature.
The following lessons are designed to present how to take charge of the patient disfluente (based on pre-school, school and adolescent), under conditions of direct and indirect treatment.
The final part of the course aims to provide useful and website references for further study.

Assessment methods and criteria

Verification of learning and knowledge gained takes place during the appeals provided for by the teaching calendar, through oral question, the presence of the Committee on the Teaching of the Course of Integrated phono-Speech. The student must be able to demonstrate the knowledge provided by the educational objectives of the course.
