Course presentation - video

Why in Parma?

The course is located in an area of great economic importance for animal production and its transformation into high quality food. This area is famous for the production of excellent animal products that are appreciated and recognised worldwide. The guiding principle of the course is clear: only high quality raw materials can produce excellent products.

The area's vocation for high-level animal production, combined with its focus on quality and sustainability, represents a reference model and a stimulus for innovative experiences, both nationally and internationally. Moreover, the course is distinguished by a specific focus on the world of horses, offering a unique training opportunity in the Italian academic panorama. The course is divided into three curricula, designed to meet the concrete needs of the world of work: Animal Production Sciences (SPA): for those who wish to work in livestock farming and contribute to the efficient and sustainable management of production chains; Precision Livestock Farming (PLF): delivered entirely in English, it is designed for those who want to learn more about innovative technologies for the sustainable management of livestock farms, animal welfare and the optimisation of production quality; Equine Science and Techniques (STE): ideal for those who want to work in the horse breeding, management and welfare sector. Students choose their curriculum in the third year with greater awareness of their professional interests and goals. The course is distinguished by the high level of satisfaction of the students, who find the teaching offered a valuable support for their professional future. This is made possible by the great helpfulness of the lecturers, who act as true intermediaries between the students and the world of work. The numerous internship opportunities and collaborations with companies and production realities outside the university allow students to gain concrete and direct experience in the sector, preparing the new generations of professionals to face the challenges and opportunities of the animal production industry with competence and passion.

The Parma area, with its long tradition of livestock production and quality food processing, offers a unique context in which each student can gain direct experience in state-of-the-art livestock farms, equine stud farms, highly innovative feed mills, professional associations and laboratories specialising in the processing of animal products. Thanks to these opportunities, each student can tailor their course to their own interests and acquire practical skills and applied knowledge to meet the challenges of the industry.
