Doctoral School in Medicine and Veterinary Medicine

Organisation

the PhD course in Molecular Medicine is entirely based at the University of Parma (not in associate form).
The Doctorate involves the use of different teaching methodologies, consistent with the characteristics of the scientific disciplines taught by the members of the Doctorate Collagio and with the opportunities offered by an extensive training network that includes industrial partners and international research groups.
The training project will be organized in lectures and seminars given by members of the Collegio or distinguished international researchers, in experimental activities and research in the laboratories of the Department of Medicine and Surgery.
The supervised doctoral students will carry out complementary teaching activities for the students of the degree courses of the Department of Medicine and Surgery. The PhD students will be provided with technical skills in structural systems biology, metabolomics, advanced morphological investigation, molecular epidemiology, regenerative medicine protocols, development of innovative preclinical models.
The training project provides for attendance at course in room and/or by teleconference on topics related to advanced biomedical research in all scientific disciplines represented by the members of the Collegio.
The PhD's professors will discuss the objectives, methods, and technologies of advanced research, and students will be able to benefit from high-level training activities, which take place within laboratories and research infrastructures. In the first year, PhD students will take lectures on cardiac pathophysiology, molecular biology, clinical biochemistry, pharmacology, human anatomy, histology, motor science and sports; in the second year, lectures will focus on clinical disciplines such as General Pathology and Clinical Pathology, Medical Oncology, Clinical Microbiology, Pathological Anatomy, Forensic Medicine and Medical-Forensic Sciences, Clinical Psychology. In the third year students will take advanced biomedical research classes in Cardiovascular Diseases, Dentistry, Maxillofacial Surgery, Visual System Diseases, in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, in Anesthesiology.
Students will also participate in the transdisciplinary activities proposed for all PhD courses at the University of Parma (high-level language training, computer science training, management of research and knowledge of European and international research systems, the fundamental of ethics, gender equality and integrity, exploitation and dissemination of results, intellectual property and open access to research data and products)
