The research program of the PhD in Industrial Engineering adopts a cross-disciplinary approach, integrating themes from mechanical engineering and management engineering. The main research areas are:

• Industrial and environmental technical physics (e.g., acoustics, energy systems)
• Computer-aided machine design and drafting
• Fluid machinery, experimental testing of power and operating machines
• Metallurgy, materials science and technology, advanced materials
• Applied mechanics, vibrations, vehicle dynamics, biomechanics, tribology
• Robotics, artificial intelligence, real-time systems, man-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop systems
• Computational mechanics (e.g., FEM, computational fluid dynamics)
• Mechanical and thermal measurements, monitoring, diagnostics, and control
• Production, logistics, supply chain management
• Business economics, accounting, decision-making, and control processes
