Teaching quality

Quality Assurance is an indispensable process that involves all those who work in the University, in which each individual's progress benefits the entire University and stimulates the kind of fruitful debate the university must aspire to in order to ensure its social role is effective and tangible.


QUALITY ASSURANCE means:

  • defining quality policies that are aligned with the University's strategic directions, and reliable and robust procedures through which the governing bodies can implement them;
  • implementing activities to ensure effectiveness and efficiency in all the University's internal processes, first and foremost in the service of the quality of education and research;
  • creating awareness in all those who work in the University so that everyone's tasks are carried out competently and promptly, the services provided are effective, and a record is kept of what has been done to monitor and measure results.

Student Opinion Survey Questionnaire (OPIS)

The Student Opinion Survey Questionnaire (OPIS) is a tool designed to detect student opinion with a view to improving teaching, quality and the organisation of degree courses and is an integral part of the assessment system; for students it is an important opportunity to make their voices heard and actively participate in the life of their course, as a guarantee of better Quality Assurance: for this reason the University recommends that it is filled in punctually and accurately.

Organisation and responsibility for Course QA

For the Second-Cycle Degree Course in Electronic Engineering, a Review Group (GdR) has been set up for the purpose of course quality assurance. The GdR is composed of the Course President (or their representatives, in the case of a Unified Council with other degree courses), the Quality Assurance Manager (RAQ), a Student Representative and an Education Manager from the Department of Engineering and Architecture to which the degree course belongs.

The current members of the Review Group are listed in the 'Presentation' section of the SUA Form, under 'Contact People and Structures'.

The GdR has the task of guiding the degree course towards continually improving their own results, as well as managing the process of self-evaluation, i.e. the process by which the degree course monitors its own performance and assesses its own results, including in accordance with the guidelines established by ANVUR.

In addition to the GdR, a Steering Committee has been active since 2017, the current composition of which can be found in Section A1.b of the SUA Form, which is periodically consulted in order to check whether the training objectives are still appropriate for the world of work.

The other QA figures listed on the degree course page are:

- the Tutoring Delegate 
- the Career Guidance Delegate 
- the Internships Delegate 
- the International Mobility Delegate 
- the Delegate for instruction on student affairs

Finally, the Tutors listed in the "Presentation" section of the SUA Form, under "Contact people and structures", also contribute to QA.

Work scheduling and implementation deadlines for initiatives

The general planning of QA activities leads to daily contact with student representatives, tutors, professors/instructors and staff in the Academic Office and central offices. In correspondence with deadlines for documents or fulfilments (review, SUA form, beginning and end of semesters, examination and graduation sessions), activities intensify and take the form of drafting texts or collecting information.

At University level, the scheduling concerns:
- the compilation of the annual report of the Joint Teacher-Student Committee;
- the compilation of the annual report of the Evaluation Committee;
- the compilation of the annual report on the opinion of attending students by the Evaluation Committee;
- the redefinition of the policy, organisation and responsibilities for the QA of the degree course, the scheduling of work and the deadlines for the implementation of initiatives at University level.

The quality assurance of the degree course consists in the implementation of the QA Model proposed and coordinated by the Quality Assurance Body and in the planning and implementation of corrective actions, the effectiveness of which is assessed annually through the analysis of indicator trends in the Annual Monitoring Form and, in depth, periodically in the Cyclic Review Report.

Corrective actions under the control of the Department and/or the degree course are planned according to the organisational and management arrangements of the Department and/or the degree course and are coordinated and monitored by the Quality Assurance Manager (RAQ).

The degree course appoints an internal Review Group (GdR) whose activities are organised as follows:
- annually drafts the SUA-CdS for the following academic year;
- periodically verifies the status of implementation of the improvement measures proposed in the Cyclical Review Report and assesses the overall progress of students' careers, based on the data provided by ANVUR.

For 2020, the main implementation deadlines for the degree course are:
- Resolutions to amend the educational regulations by 21/02/2019
- Transmission of the minutes of the Departmental Councils that make up the educational offer for the academic year 2020/21, with the approval of Prospectus and course unit coverage plans by Friday 6 March 2020 and entry into U-GOV by 31 May.
- Analysis of educational quality (by the deadline for completion of framework B6 of the SUA-CdS (30 September).
- Printing of Prospectus by the beginning of July.
- Drafting of the course unit information (syllabus) by 15 July.
- Definition of the class timetable within 15 days of the start of the semester.
- Definition of examination dates by November.
- Online reporting of teaching activities, by all professors/instructors via the ESSE3 system (https://unipr.esse3.cineca.it), by 30 September.
- Drafting of the Annual Monitoring Form (SMA) by December.
- By May 2020: Steering Committee meeting
