Learning objectives

Communications are intended to provide students with the tools to analyze qualitatively and quantitatively the area and especially the urban centers that belong to it.
These purposes involve a double operation: detect from the real (set of surveys intended to understanding the analized object) and translate into an ordered set of data and signs - by means of an operation of critical synthesis - the only information required to meet the purposes for which the survey was carried out.
It is, therefore, to acquire a methodology able to allow the reading of the multiple components to the scale of city and territory and those of their urban scale in view of a project that change the anthropic environment (conservation, restoration and protection, new building) or aimed at the documentation or the single-cataloging historical analysis.
Particular attention will be paid to:
1. the relationship between built and geographical context of belonging;
2. the growing criteria of building fabric;
3. the role of each building within the urban context;
4. buildings on historical-linguistics matrix;
5. buildings on compositional-building characters;
6. connective tissue;
7. the street furniture elements;
8. urban green.
Communications, from the analysis of some methodological issues, will provide students with a range of cognitive instrumental and expressive experiences, that will be useful to support the activities foreseen in the final workshop.
