Learning objectives

The MA Programme in Global Politics and International Relations aims to train graduates interested in a career in international relations. The Programme provides access to positions of responsibility in international organisations and non-governmental organisations and, following a competitive examination, to diplomatic careers. Graduates in Global Politics and International Relations may also pursue careers as civil servants or managers in public institutions and in public and private companies, especially those with foreign relations, in organisations involved in international cooperation, in political party organisations, in think tanks, in consultancy agencies and in the media.

Global Politics and International Relations graduate profile

The Program deepens and strengthens the knowledge and comprehension skills already acquired during the first cycle of studies and enables them to develop them in an original form, also in the field of research. At the end of the course of study, graduates should be able to apply the acquired knowledge, critically evaluate problems related to their field of study and tackle new and unfamiliar areas in interdisciplinary contexts.

Graduates in Global Politics and International Relations possess:
  • the ability to apply acquired knowledge and to understand the dynamics that characterise the global political system, including in new and unfamiliar areas as well as in interdisciplinary contexts;
  • the ability to make articulate judgements on the basis of available information, even if limited or incomplete;
  • the ability to articulate and defend one's own position on major international issues and dynamics, taking into account the complexity of global phenomena and the presence of other positions or perspectives;
  • a level of linguistic competence that enables him/her to communicate in the European and international social reality effectively in French and fluently in English;
  • the ability to communicate clearly and effectively one's own opinions and the results of one's research, as well as the ability to competently discuss applied methodologies;
  • the ability to write formally and substantively correct texts that are rigorous in method and content;
  • the ability to critically reflect on the concepts and methods they have learnt;
  • the ability to have an autonomous method of study, learning and individual reflection that will enable them to keep up to date and deepen their acquired disciplinary skills.
