Enrolment procedures and deadlines


Admission to the MA Program in Global Politics and International Relations (Class LM-52) requires possession of a first-cycle (three-year) university degree, a first-level degree, a single-cycle degree or a four-year degree awarded at Italian universities or an academic qualification awarded abroad and deemed equivalent to a first-level degree.

Admission requirements

Admission to the Master's Degree Course in Global Politics and International Relations is open to graduates in possession of a B2 level Italian language proficiency certificate and a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science (Class L-36), in Social Sciences for Cooperation (Class L-37) or in a related discipline. Candidates who do not hold one of these degree classes must have acquired at least 24 university credits in one or more of the following disciplines: International Law, European Union Law, Comparative Public Law, Political Philosophy, Political Science, History of Political Thought, link to video recordings, Sociology, History, Political Economy, Economic History.

Students who do not hold a Bachelor's degree in Class L-36 or L-37 (DM. 270/04) or who hold a degree in one of these two classes with a grade of less than 80/110 must undergo a preliminary examination of their personal preparation only after having fulfilled the aforementioned admission debts.

Verification of access requirements

Those who do not hold a first-cycle degree in Political Science and International Relations (Class L-36) or in Social Sciences (Class L-37) may request verification of their entry requirements from the Programmes of Study Committee.

 

Curricular requirement recovery

For the academic year 2024/2025, students who do not meet the curricular requirements for enrollment in master's degree courses can access the "Curricular Requirement Recovery" program (similar to a "Single Course"), provided they have completed the pre-enrollment for the desired master's degree course and paid the regional fee and virtual stamp duty.

It is emphasized that:

  • A maximum of 30 ECTS can be earned through the "Curricular Requirement Recovery" program.
  • This program does not grant certifications for the completion of individual courses, as it is purely preparatory for access to the master's degree program.
  • The credits must be acquired by March 31st.
  • These credits will not be counted for student benefits or in the calculation of university fees.

Enrolment Period - Prospectus

Registration/enrolment periods:

  • registration: from 12:00 on 17 July 2024 to 12:00 on 18 October 2024

N.B. Students who have not yet graduated and who wish to enrol on second-cycle degree courses must still pre-enrol on the second-cycle degree course by 18 October 2024 and, once they have obtained their three-year degree, complete enrolment by 31 March 2025

  • Enrolment for years subsequent to the first: from 5 September 2024 to 16 November 2024
  • Transitions and incoming transfers: until 18 October 2024
  • outgoing transfers: until 31 December 2024

(18 eligible non-EU students, of which 3 places are reserved for students of Chinese nationality as part of the "Marco Polo" Project)

Recognition of previous studies

Students with previous careers and university studies already completed in Italy and abroad who enrol on the Degree Course in Global Politics and International Relations may apply for recognition of these activities.

Entrance test

Procedure for the entrance test for students with a first-cycle degree (Class L-36) grade of less than 80/110 and for all those who do not hold a first-cycle degree in Class L-36 (DM. 270/04) or L-37 (DM. 270/04)

Those who hold a three-year degree in Class L-36 or L-37 (DM. 270/04), obtained at any university, provided they have obtained a degree mark of no less than 80/110, are considered suitably prepared for the degree course.

Those who do not hold a three-year degree in Class L-36 or L-37 (DM. 270/04) or who hold a three-year degree in Class L-36 or L-37 (DM. 270/04) with a graduation mark of less than 80/110 must take a test before the closing date for enrollment on the degree course.

The test to ascertain the student's personal preparation consists of an oral interview aimed at ascertaining the possession of basic knowledge consistent with the curricula that satisfy the admission requirements for the degree course, in the fields of history, political science, law and economics.

The examination is carried out by a committee of professors appointed by the Course Council.
Test dates are communicated via the course website.

The result of the test will be recorded in a special register prepared by the Student Registry Office and communicated to the student at the end of the test.
