Learning objectives

This course intends to highlight some fundamental topics of contemporary organic chemistry, focusing on stereoselective processes applied to the asymmetric syntheses of complex multifunctional molecules.

Prerequisites

Organic Chemistry II is an advanced course that foresees the knowledge of basic topics discussed in the Organic Chemistry I course.

Course unit content

This advanced course deals about reactivity and structures of main functional groups. Particular attention will be focused on the stereochemistry of such compounds and some related stereoselective processes: carbon-carbon bond forming reactions; protection and deprotection of complex systems; stereoselective construction of chiral molecules; asymmetric reactions and related chiral induction models; total synthesys studies including retrosynthetic approaches and strategic disconnections.
