Learning objectives

<br />The student is expected to acquire the essential elements of epidemiological methodology; the necessary knowledge for preventing infectious and non infectious diseases; knowledge of environmental hygiene, hospital hygiene, health education. The student is expected to be able to identify health risks in the <br />workplace; be familiar with the main regulations and legislative provisions on the subject of hygiene and safety in the workplace; know the fundamental principles relative to <br />prevention of accidents and occupational diseases; be acquainted with the main concepts of labour law with particular reference to audiology and audio prostheses; understand the relationship between mental health and work activity. <br />The student is expected to acquire useful information of a legal and ethical nature, with particular reference to considerations in the penal, civil and ethical spheres

<br /> Hygiene  <br />Concept of health-Elements of epidemiological methodology –Epidemiological measures,Types of epidemiological studies i.- Risk factor concept and concept of cause in disease-General epidemiology of infectious diseases-Sources of infection, modes of transmission-Factors promoting the emergence of infections.-Modes of emergence of infections in the population-Preventive medicine-Aims and methods of prevention. Levels of preventive intervention-Prevention of infections-Discovery and inactivation of sources of infection, breaking of the infection transmission chain; increased resistance to infections-General principles of prevention of non infectious diseases: primary prevention, secondary prevention, tertiary prevention-Prevention of blood borne infections (HBV;HCV;HDV;HIV)-Hospital infections-Environmental hygiene: drinkable water – overview of supply sources; risks of pollution -Potability criteria; purification methods-Overview of Health Education and Health Organisation <br /><br /> Occupational Medicine<br />Risk factors and occupational activities: the concept of danger and risk; classification of risk factors; Environmental prevention methods for occupational risks: identification, evaluation and control; risks in health environments; principles of radioprotection; Ionizing and non ionizing radiations: definitions, effects, preventive measures; state control of workers’ health, biological monitoring and health surveillance, preventive periodical health checks; legislation on the protection of the health and safety of workers; protection of the health of healthcare professionals<br />Psychology of Work<br />Definitions and aims<br />Stress and Work :definition, characteristics of stress, consequences of Burnout Syndrom.
