Course unit content

 General regulatory systems.- Glucose repression in bacteria: physiological analysis and selection of mutants - Control of glucose repression in bacteria: cAMP and CAP- Glucose repression in yeast. Physiological analysis - Genetic control of glucose repression- Strategies to select glucose non-represseible and non-derepressible mutants- Genetic analysis of the selected mutants- Physiological analysis and determination of glucose uptake- Headie-Hofstee plot of the mutants: Identification of low and high affinity transporters- Reversion and suppression. - Search of suppressors to find out new genes. - Petite mutants in yeast. - Genetic and physiological analysis.
