Teaching methods

The TPV activities are carried out in operational contexts, for a minimum number of 14 credits, at qualified external bodies affiliated with universities. Part of these activities is carried out in public or private health facilities accredited and contracted with the National Health Service. If these structures cannot ensure the adequate and effective availability of psychology services and related tutors within them, the aforementioned TPV can be carried out entirely at other external bodies affiliated with universities. The training of students who carry out TPV activities and their assessment is entrusted to professionals / teacher-tutors, registered with the professional order for at least three years, whose training and assessment activities are carried out on the basis of the provisions for teaching tutorial from the educational regulations of the study courses.

Assessment methods and criteria

Once the judgment of suitability of the TPV activities equal to 30 credits of professional training activities has been obtained in the entire training course (three-year and/or master's), students are allowed to take the practical evaluation test (PPV), which precedes the discussion of the thesis (Art. 1 paragraph 1 of the D.Interm. n. 654 of 05/07/2022). Anyone who obtains a negative evaluation of the internship activities repeats the TPV, or part of it, until acquiring the aforementioned suitability judgment for the purpose of participating in the final qualifying exam. The PPV evaluates the professional skills acquired with the internship within the study programme, ascertaining the level of technical preparation of the candidate for the qualification to practice the profession, which precedes the discussion of the degree thesis. The PPV is aimed at ascertaining the candidate's ability to critically reflect on the overall internship experience and the activities carried out, also in light of the aspects of legislation and professional ethics, demonstrating that he is able to adopt a professional approach based on theoretical models and on the evidence.
The selection commission of the PPV has equal composition and is made up of at least four members, at least half of whom are university professors designated by the Department to which the course pertains, and, for the other half, members designated by the National Council of the Order of psychologists, enrolled for at least five years in the relevant professional register.
The test, in oral mode, is unique and focuses on the activity carried out during the TPV and on the links between theories/models and professional practices, as well as on aspects of legislation and professional ethics. The assessment has as its object the acquisition of the skills referred to in Art. 5, the ability to highlight the links between theories/models and the practice carried out during the training, as well as knowledge of the deontological code of psychologists. The PPV is passed with the achievement by the student of a judgment of suitability, which allows access to the discussion of the thesis.
