Learning objectives

To introduce students to the fundamental topics of biological chemistry.

Prerequisites

A solid basal background in mathematics, physics and chemistry.

Enzyme catalysis.
Introduction to metabolism.
Carbohydrates and glucose catabolism.
Glycogen metabolism and gluconeogenesis.

Electron transport and oxidative phosphorylation.
Lipids and biological membranes.
Lipid metabolism.
Aminoacid metabolism.
Nucleotides and nucleotide metabolism.
Integration and regulation of metabolic pathways.
Selected topics in cellular biochemistry.
